We invite you to another salon at the Laichter House, this time on the theme Against All Odds. The evening is organized in cooperation with the publishing house Tympanum and the project Vážný zájem. The event takes place in the Czech language.
· LITERATURE ·
During the event, Tympanum will present the second part of the series Winton’s Children – Against All Odds: Homo Politicus, which tells the life story of Otto Pick, one of the children saved by Nicholas Winton. The original audio drama, written and directed by David Laňka in collaboration with Paměť národa, follows Pick’s journey from his escape to his extraordinary career as a diplomat, political scientist, and public intellectual active in both the Czechoslovak and international context. The new installment will be introduced at a special premiere, accompanied by a discussion with the actors and creators.
· MUSIC ·
The evening will open and close with a musical performance by violinist Matteo Hager, who will present a repertoire of three works that reveal the full spectrum of violin expression. Bach’s Sonata in G minor for solo violin, written around 1720, is a deeply spiritual and architecturally refined composition combining polyphonic mastery with intimate expressiveness. Ysaÿe’s solo sonata, defined by technical brilliance and a hint of Spanish dance rhythms, will be complemented by Matteo Hager’s own work: his newly written Sonata for Solo Violin.
